Who Is Required to be Licensed or Registered to Operate in a Designated Public Market or Have a Photo Identification Card?

Licenses

  • Loading business - any business that, for a fee, provides loading services for a purchaser of seafood, including the parking of the purchaser's vehicle, loading seafood onto the vehicle, ensuring the security of the seafood loaded on the vehicle, and other such services. A loading license is issued to the qualified applicant(s) who responds to BIC's Request for Loading or Unloading Proposals ("RFLP"), undergoes a background investigation of its principals, and meets the standard of good character, honesty, and integrity.
  • Unloading business - any business that, for a fee, provides unloading services, such as unloading seafood from a truck that has transported the seafood from suppliers to wholesalers in the public wholesale market. An unloading license is issued to the qualified applicant(s) who responds to BIC's Request for Loading or Unloading Proposals ("RFLP"), undergoes a background investigation of its principals, and meets the standard of good character, honesty, and integrity.

  • Labor unions or labor organizations

  • Principals and employees of seafood, produce and meat wholesalers and market businesses
  • Principals and employees of seafood deliverers
  • Principals and employees of licensed loaders
  • Principals and employees of licensed unloaders
  • Officers of labor unions or labor organizations
  • Officers of wholesale trade associations
